Klein GBT at Maplelodge STW.

The Klein gravity belt thickener (GBT) has been installed in the existing thickening building at Maplelodge STW. The Klein equipment was chosen on the basis of its compact and fully enclosed system.

After having completed the commisioning the results where extremely satisfactory. When analysing the centrate and whilst keeping to the same polymer addition rates the Klein GBT achieved superior results to the existing GBTs.

Design Data is as follows:

• Sludge type: SAS S
• Sludge flow: up to 90 m³/h
• ds-concentration: 0,6 - 0,75 %
• max. loading: 90 m³/h, 675 kg-ds/h
• requested ds-concentration: 5,5 - 6,0 %

The units highlights are:

• Sturdy and compact construction manufactured in stainless steel
• Small footprint
• Low investment and operating costs
• Low wear and low noise due to the slow running of the machine
• Fully automatic adjustments of polymer addition and sludge feed rates depending on DS feed "
• Low polymer consumption
• High filtrate quality due to a high capture rate > 98%
