September 2003 Thames Water installs Dirk IWE.tec ultrasound system

In a continuous drive to reduce sludge volumes and increase energy efficiency by converting biogas into electricity and generating carbon credits, Thames Water are to install a 24 kW Dirk IWE.tec part stream ultrasound system at its 300.000 PE Hogsmill STW. It is expected that the installed system will save Thames Water an annual £140,000 on disposal costs and has the potential to generate up to 200kW extra energy, as well as improving the characteristics of the product.
