Recycling of industrial by-product and waste streams
Utilisation of discarded and unused resources has become one of the great challenges of this century since the necessity of a sustainable ecology has been widely recognised.
Waste Oil
The DIRK Group was attracted by this economic and environmental task since its formation in 1966 when Georg Dirk initiated one of the major facilities for the recycling of waste oil in Bochum, Germany. The plant was designed for the production of engine oils and set the standards for this industry.
Recycling power station ashes, slags and gypsum
Based on the expertise gained, the DIRK Group focussed on the recycling of power station by-products (ashes, slags, gypsum) at a time when environmental awareness started to be a political and, consequently, a legislative issue. The new developed end products were expendable abrasives created from power station slags, cement replacement materials, grouts and sludge stabilisation products from pulverised fuel ashes and plasters and floor screeds from gypsum.
DIRK ash recycling processing plants in India supply the POZZOCRETE Partial Cement Replacement brand and the Tecfil cenosphere filler brand.
Waste Paper
At the same time the DIRK Group started to recycle the by-product waste from the wallpaper industry by recycling the paper fibre and the vinyl coatings materials contained in the waste and gained the UK Environmental Award in 1986.
Sludge - the by-product of the water purification process
One of the products based on recycled power station ash developed as an important tool in creating bio-solids products from water and waste water sludges. In the process of providing complete solutions for our clients we combine the sludge treatment process with sludge dewatering
services.
The DIRK Group
combines a unique blend of talented scientists and engineers to achieve
brand leading technologies to benefit the environment and industrial
processes that do not cost the earth
